Update October 13th, 2006

Dear Good Shepherd,

Good morning!

The Update is going to be very short this morning. I spent four hours yesterday working on it and then left the computer on all night (bad move) without saving it (really bad move). This morning I finished it and then went to save it. I clicked the wrong button and closed the document. The program asked me: “do you want to save your changes?” By force of habit, I clicked “no”. The Update disappeared. It was gone. I tried to retrieve it but only found a very early and incomplete version…about a sentence long, not worth building on.

The horrible thing is that I saw myself doing it in slow motion as I was doing it, just like in the movies.

So, I am now very frustrated.

Nevertheless there are six items that need to be announced no matter what:

  1. The acolyte practice scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday the 14 th ) will be held at 4:00pm instead of 11:00am. This way the Franks will be able to join us.

  1. Betty Bado tells me that there is a dire need for waiters or waitresses for the Harvest Dinner. If you have not signed up to help, this is definitely something you could do.

  1. Cookie Finch wanted me to remind you that the Harvest Dinner is THIS WEDNESDAY. So please keep that date open.

  1. Anne is putting the Newsletter out this coming week so if you have something you would like to publish, please write it up and put it in her box which is at the top of the stairs right before you enter the office “complex”.

  1. The New Beginner's Bible Study is starting up on November 2 nd …if you have not yet joined a bible study and don't know how to read the bible, this one is for you.

  1. Thank you to everyone who put off plans to be there on Sunday. Kevin said that he was very impressed by the music, the worship and the life he saw at Good Shepherd. I am somewhat disappointed that the videos don't include anything but my sermon and the interview. I was hoping he would shoot more video of the service.

Here is the interview:

and here is the sermon:

Thank you again for your support of Good Shepherd. These videos will be used to further the mission and ministry of Good Shepherd.

Good News for the Week
Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.

(Galatians 1:10-12)
